Ries String Quintet in C, Op. 37

Beethoven Piano Trio in B flat, Op. 97 ‘Archduke’

What would any violinist have given to have been Ignaz Schuppanzigh, who premiered Beethoven’s Archduke Trio, as well as the Razumovsky Quartets and all the late string quartets. As if that wasn’t enough, his quartet also gave first performances of multiple works by Schubert, including the Rosamunde Quartet that is dedicated to him. Ferdinand Ries was a close friend of Beethoven’s and, as you will hear this evening, also a highly skilled composer.
