Summer Residency/Festival 2021

 

The Summer Residency 2021 looked a little different  to usual. After the cancellation of the 2020 Summer Residency and the 2021 Winter Festival due to Covid-19, we wanted to come back with a bang and planned a two-week extravaganza of concerts, masterclasses and music-making. After all, surely things will be better by July?!

But alas, although ‘things’ were better, they were not where we hoped they would be. Particularly in Wales, where the restrictions were even tighter than in England. Therefore after much deliberation it was decided that the residential aspect of the Festival was simply too risky and also against regulations in Wales. The challenge then was to maintain the concert aspect of the Festival for our deserving and culture-starved audiences!

With a matter of weeks to go, Daniel Tong our Co-Director set about curating two weekends of concerts plus two days of coaching for at least some of the up-and-coming ensembles who were originally planning to come to the Summer Residency week. And it all had to be safe, socially-distanced and within the rules. Challenge accepted!

 

Weekend 1: Hellens Manor, Much Marcle, HR8 2LY:

Sat 24th July: 11am – 5.30pm – Discovery Day at Hellens Manor – a day of performances, discussions and masterclasses with Daniel Tong (piano), Krysia Osostowicz (violin), Robin Michael (cello), Treske Quartet and Ensemble Kopernikus. Includes a light lunch and afternoon refreshments.
