Programme2009 will see the 10th Wye Valley Chamber Music Festival. A special programme of events is planned. It's amazing to think that we have come this far!
The progamme for the 2009 festival will feature the works of Haydn and Mendelssohn in their anniversary year. Alongside this there will be a theme of folk and gypsy music, from Brahms, Haydn, de Falla, Enescu, Bartok, Martinu and Beethoven amongst others. The first four concerts take place in St Briavels (twice), Wyastone and the Bishop's Palace in Hereford. Our final weekend is packed with special events. These start with two concerts at Hellens on Saturday 17th including talks on Haydn and Bartok as well as a performance of Mendelssohn's Octet and four of the greatest string quartets in the repertoire. The Discovery Day at Treowen on Sunday 18th, building on the success of our first such event last year, will concentrate on Romantic Piano Trios by Mendelssohn, Schubert and Brahms as well as string quartets by Mendelssohn and Beethoven. Richard Wigmore and Stephen Walsh (also contributing at Hellens) will host, including discussion of the works performed and a Q&A session with some of the musicians. Simon and I look forward to welcoming you to our concerts in January. For full details of the programme click here. The musicians are delighted to be based at Treowen again after moving there last year. It provides a unique atmosphere for our music-making and accommodation, as well as an ideal venue for the Discovery Day at the end. New for 2009! - Buy Tickets Online here |
